What's the difference between the book and the companion workbook?
The book (19 chapters) teaches the system — what to do, why it works, and how to sequence it. The workbook is where you actually do the work: all 10 modules, every worksheet from the book, in a printable format with room to write. The Standard edition is 46 pages and the Premium edition is 62 pages.
Do I need to read the book before using the workbook?
The workbook is built to be worked through alongside the book — most worksheets tie directly to a specific chapter, so reading that chapter first is how the worksheet's questions make sense. It's not designed as a standalone.
What's the difference between the Standard and Premium workbook editions?
Standard (46 pages) includes all 10 modules and every lettered worksheet (1A–10D), plus the Reference Tools: the Tool Evaluation Scorecard, Automate Now / Later / Never Sort, Customer Health Score Tracker, and AI Project Library. Is this book specific to my industry?
The Owner Trap is Book One — a general small-business system. Industry-specific editions are planned as a series: Real Estate, HVAC and Trades, Medical and Dental Practices, Insurance Agencies, Retail, Restaurants, and Professional Services.
I have no technical background — is this book for me?
Yes. The book is explicit about this: it doesn't ask you to become a technologist. Every tool it recommends is used conversationally, in plain language — not through code.
I already use some AI tools in my business — do I need to start over?
No. Chapter 1's Operations Inventory audits what you're already doing before you change anything, and the system is built to connect what you already use, not replace it wholesale.
How long does implementation actually take?

Is the companion app included when I buy the book?
No. The app at aiownertrap.online is a separate one-time purchase with its own account system, Terms of Use, and Privacy Statement. There are two plans: Essentials ($79) and Complete ($99). There is no subscription and there are no recurring charges. See The App for details.
What is the difference between Essentials and Complete?
Essentials gives you the full 10-module curriculum, AI quizzes, a 100+ AI tools directory, 14+ implementation guides, and the Standard Companion Workbook (46 pages). Complete adds AI module summaries and learning insights, the 90-Day Roadmap Generator and Task Board, five AI assistants, full community access with events, and the Premium Companion Workbook (62 pages). Essentials members can upgrade to Complete for the $20 difference. The Community is a Complete-plan feature.
Is there a refund policy for the app?
Every purchase includes a 48-hour refund window. The guarantee is void if you download, copy, export, or access any workbook, guide, implementation resource, or other downloadable content during that window. The full terms are in section 4A of our Terms of Use.
Resource Library & Privacy
Can I access the worksheets and tools without owning the book or workbook?
Yes, in part. Every resource page shows a free preview of the top of the page. Book owners can see every page in full, in a read-only view, by claiming access with the code printed in their copy of the book. The fillable, downloadable versions are in the App. See the Resource Library for the complete list.
Can I fill out the worksheets on the website? Where is my data stored?
No. The worksheets on this website are read-only views, so there is nothing to fill in or save here. Fillable versions live in the App, where your entries are stored under your App account. If you create a website account with your book access code, we store the profile details you provide (name, email, and the optional fields on the sign-up form) as described in our Privacy Statement.
How do I unlock the full worksheets as a book owner?
Go to Claim Access, enter the six-digit code printed at the bottom of page 1 of your copy of the book and your email, then follow the link we send you to finish setting up your account. Already have an account? Sign in.
Which AI tools does the book actually recommend?
The book uses Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Copilot as general reference tools throughout, with a full category-by-category breakdown in Appendix A — The AI Tools Reference Guide.
What's the "Never Automate Test"?
The book's central guardrail: if a customer found out this task was handled by AI and not a person, would they feel misled or undervalued? If yes — keep a human in it.
